How to make a waitlist or coming soon page that people actually join

A waitlist page has one job: turn curiosity into an email address. The shorter the path from headline to button, the more people join.

Short answer: write one headline that says what the product does and for whom, add a single email field with a specific button ("Join the waitlist"), give a reason to join now (early access, a launch price, a date), and show what the product looks like. Then send a confirmation email straight away that says what happens next.

What should a waitlist page say?

  • The promise: the outcome, in the reader’s words. "Invoices that chase themselves" beats "The future of finance ops".
  • Who it is for: one line, so the right people know to stay.
  • Why now: early access, founding-member pricing or a launch date.
  • Proof: a screenshot, a short clip, or a few sentences from beta users.

How many form fields should it have?

One: email. Every extra field costs sign-ups. If you need to know role or company size, ask on the thank-you screen, after the email is already captured, and make it optional.

Should you show a position in line?

A visible position ("You are number 412") plus a referral link that moves people up works well for consumer products, because it gives a reason to share. For B2B tools it can feel like a gimmick; a clear launch month and an invitation in batches is usually enough.

What should happen after someone joins?

  1. A thank-you state on the page that confirms the address and says when they will hear from you.
  2. An immediate email from a real name, with one question they can reply to.
  3. A short update every few weeks until launch, so the list does not go cold.

What is the difference between a coming soon page and a maintenance page?

A coming soon page invites people in before launch and collects interest. A maintenance page apologises for a temporary outage on a live product and says when it will be back. Use different copy and tone for each; we cover the second in maintenance and error pages.

Where can you get a ready-made waitlist page?

Liniqo’s pre-built pages include five waitlist and coming soon pages with a hairline figure in place. Set your brand colour and product name, then copy one HTML file or a React component.

Questions

What is a good waitlist page conversion rate?

It varies widely by audience and traffic source, so compare against your own past pages. The biggest gains usually come from a clearer headline and fewer fields.

Should a waitlist page have a launch date?

If you can commit to one, yes: a month is enough. If not, say how invites go out, for example in weekly batches.

How do I stop a waitlist going cold?

Send a confirmation immediately and a short, useful update every few weeks until launch.

Can I make a waitlist page without code?

Yes. Paste a ready-made page into your builder, or connect the email field to a form service or your email tool.
